Unusal Findings

Learn about Insulation

Consider this time of year to add insulation to the attic. Current tax incentives are available to help offset the cost of this effort.

Learn about Mold

Review the exterior of the home to find gaps or cracks related to age or winter activity. Seal any gaps to prevent moisture intrusion into the home. It is important to understand that moisture intrusion is the greatest enemy of a home.

Learn about Roofing

Remove sticks and debris from the roof. Walk the roof to review it for any damage or potential repairs. Pay particular attention to cracks in masonry chimneys and around any roof jack penetrations. If you are unsure of these efforts, consider the use of a home inspector to perform the work.

Commercial Inspections

Jim finds himself uniquely qualified for conducting all types of commercial inspections. He has 25 years of quality assurance and production management experience with major food manufacturing companies. These roles required him to conduct countless inspections of manufacturing and warehouse facilities. These inspections would include areas of building structural integrity, roof and drainage, prevention of pest entry, lighting and electrical, ventilation and worker safety. Worker safety items would include slip hazards, blind aisle ways, adequate lighting and obvious mechanical or electrical hazards.

Although there are no standards of practice for inspection of these types of commercial properties, these are the items that would be most scrutinized. Commercial retail, office and apartment properties are typically inspected using the residential standards of practice.
